Magnet School Admissions Fraud

areas of scrutiny: Texas K-12 Education

Media outlets have documented cheating strategies used by parents living outside of the Dallas school district to fraudulently get their students into the nationally recognized Booker T. High School, an arts magnet. This includes taking out short-term apartment leases or paying the utility bills of in-district residents to get their names on the bills to claim residency. Parents have also been accused of manufacturing fake documents to fraudulently show residency inside the district.
